The much-anticipated Ola Electric Roadster X has hit yet another speed bump. Launched with great fanfare in February 2025, this sleek electric motorcycle from Bengaluru-based Ola Electric was expected to be a game-changer in the Indian two-wheeler EV segment. However, three months later, not a single unit has reached customers — and now, delivery timelines have been pushed again.

Third Delay Since Launch: What We Know

Initially promised to begin deliveries in March, the Ola Electric Roadster X has already missed two deadlines. While the company had previously assured in April that production had kicked off at its Tamil Nadu-based Futurefactory and deliveries would begin “soon,” a recent stock exchange filing reveals a new delay. Ola now claims that deliveries will finally start in May.

This marks the third delivery delay since the motorcycle’s grand unveiling on February 5 — frustrating early adopters who had booked the Roadster X with high hopes.

Controversy Over Inflated Sales Data

The delay in deliveries isn’t Ola Electric’s only concern. The company is under scrutiny after it admitted to including 1,395 units of Roadster X bookings in its February 2025 sales figures, despite not delivering a single bike. This revelation came to light through a letter Ola sent to the Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, prompting questions from regulatory authorities and raising concerns about transparency.

What Makes the Ola Electric Roadster X Special?

Despite the delay and controversy, interest in the Ola Roadster X remains high—and with good reason. The motorcycle boasts a futuristic design, premium specs, and multiple battery and performance options.

🔋 Battery Variants & Performance

The Roadster X comes in three battery sizes:

  • 2.5 kWh, starting at ₹74,999 (introductory)
  • 3.5 kWh, priced at ₹84,999
  • 4.5 kWh, for ₹94,999

All variants are powered by a 7 kW motor that delivers 9.4 bhp, a top speed of 118 kmph, and a 0–40 kmph acceleration time of just 3.1 seconds. The top-end 4.5 kWh version offers a respectable 252 km range on a single charge.

⚡ Roadster X+: The Performance Beast

The Roadster X+ steps things up with two options:

  • 4.5 kWh battery (₹104,999)
  • 9.1 kWh battery (₹154,999)

Equipped with a powerful 11 kW motor delivering 14.75 bhp, the Roadster X+ can hit a top speed of 125 kmph and zip from 0–40 kmph in just 2.7 seconds. Notably, the 9.1 kWh variant uses Ola’s advanced 4680 Bharat Cell and offers an industry-leading 501 km range — putting it far ahead of many competitors.

Conclusion: Will Ola Deliver This Time?

There’s no doubt that the Roadster X offers tremendous value on paper — performance, pricing, and technology all look promising. But with delivery timelines continuing to slide and credibility now under question, Ola Electric has its work cut out to regain customer trust.

Buyers and EV enthusiasts alike are now waiting to see if May 2025 will finally be the month Ola starts handing over keys. Until then, the road ahead for the Ola Electric Roadster X remains uncertain — but certainly worth watching.
